FINAL SCORE: Vikings 26 – Saints 20 (OT)

Vikings win the coin toss and elect to receive.

Kirk Cousins finds Adam Thielen deep behind the Saints defense. Minnesota has a first & goal at the 2 yard line.

On third & goal, Cousins found Kyle Rudolph in the corner of the end zone for a 4-yard game-winning touchdown.

Fourth Quarter:

Minnesota punts on the first play of the quarter, setting up Drew Brees and the offense.

Brees finds Taysom Hill for a 20-yard touchdown throw-and-catch. Saints trail 20-17.

Taysom Hill would help the Saints march down inside field goal range (which would tie the game), but Drew Brees fumbles with 4 minutes left in the game. Minnesota takes over at their own 38 yard line.

A pivotal play with 3:30 left in the game came with an apparent fumble returned for a touchdown by the Saints’ Vonn Bell, but the call was later overturned (runner’s knee was down).

Cam Jordan would sack Kirk Cousins two plays later to force a punt.

Drew Brees and the offense drive it down into field goal range with 2 minutes left on the clock, and Wil Lutz winds a 29-yard attempt through the uprights to tie it and force overtime.

Third Quarter:

Saints start the 2nd Half with the ball but punt after just one first down.

After another exchange of punts, the Vikings drive 64 yards to punch in a touchdown. Minnesota leads 20-10.

Second Quarter:

Saints take over at their own 20 yard line, after the defense forces a punt to begin the quarter.

Backup QB Taysom Hill comes in and ignites the stagnant Saints offense with a first-down run, a 50-yard pass (to the 4 yard line), and a block to spring Alvin Kamara for a touchdown run. New Orleans leads 10-3.

The New Orleans defense would hold Minnesota inside the Saints’ 5 yard line on the ensuing drive, forcing a field goal. Saints lead 10-6.

Drew Brees, trying to answer, throws his first interception since Week 12. Minnesota’s Anthony Harris returns the INT to the New Orleans 45 yard line.

Minnesota would capitalize on the turnover on a 4-yard touchdown run from Dalvin Cook with just 23 seconds left on the first half clock.

The Saints weren’t done before the half, though! Deonte Harris brought back the ensuing kickoff 54 yards and into Vikings territory. Brees would find Michael Thomas for a 20-yard completion to set up a field goal attempt.

However, Wil Lutz, who had made 17 straight, pushed his 43-yard attempt to the right. Halftime score – 13-10 Minnesota.

First Quarter:

Minnesota wins the toss & elects to receive the first possession of the ballgame.

The Vikings fumble the ball, and Saints safety Vonn Bell recovers and returns the ball inside Vikings territory.

Wil Lutz converts the turnover into a 29-yard field goal to give the Saints the first score of the game.

Minnesota answers with a field goal, kicked in by Dan Bailey, after a 50-yard drive to the New Orleans 25 yard line.
