REVENGE: Saints beat Falcons 26-18 in Atlanta

The New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons are set to faceoff again Thanksgiving night on WVLA NBC Local 33.

The Saints have won both their games since their inital 26-9 loss to the Falcons two weeks ago.


The game gets off to an exciting start with Saints No. 7 Taysom Hill blocking the Falcons punt less than 2 minutes into the game.

With the Saints just 30 yards from the endzone thanks to that blocked punt, Hill scores a touchdown with 11:07 left in the first quarter. Saints kicker Wil Lutz makes the extra point.

Saints lead the Falcons 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.


Falcons No. 87 Jason Graham scored the first touchdown of the second quarter but Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo misses the extra point, keeping the Falcons trailing the Saints by one point, 7-6.

Saints kicker Wil Lutz makes a field goal after the Saints fail to make a touchdown after spending 2nd and 3rd down just 4 yards from the endzone. Saints are now up 10-6.

Falcon’s Koo misses his second kick of the game from the 42 yard line.

Saints Taysom Hill runs the ball 30 yards in for a touchdown. Saints’ lead increases to 17-6 after Lutz makes the extra point.

Falcon’s Koo scores his first field goal of the night bringing the score to 17-9 just before halftime.


After a mostly uneventful first 11 minutes in the third quarter, Saints kicker Wil Lutz scores a 47 yard field to bring the Saints up 20-9.

Saints Shy Tuttle intercepts throw from Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and runs 33 yards to Atlanta’s 39 yard line but a penalty on the play by Saints Cameron Jordan pushs the Saints back 10 yards.


Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan’s throw on 3rd & 15 is intercepted by Saints No. 22 Chauncey Gardner-Johnson who runs it for 28 yards to Atlanta’s 29 yard line.

Saints kicker Wil Lutz kicker scores a 42 yard field goal. Saints now lead 23-9.

Saints Vonn Bell picks up a fumble by Falcon’s Matt Ryan and runs it 5 yards to Atlanta’s 39 yard line.

Lutz scores another field goal increasing the Saints lead to 26-9.

Falcon’s quarterback Matt Ryan passes to Russle Gage for a touchdown. An unsuccessful conversion brings the score to 26-15.

Koo kicks a 43 yard field goal. Falcons trail 26-18.

Saints win 26-18.
