The New Orleans Saints closed out the regular season on the road against the Carolina Panthers.
Saints running back Alvin Kamara got the scoring started with back to back touchdowns in the first quarter.
At the beginning of the 2nd quarter, Panthers Will Grier looked to throw to Greg Olson but Saints linebacker A.J. Klein was all over it and picked off Grier. Klein takes the interception back to the endzone for the pick 6. This lifted the Saints to an early 21-0 lead.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees threw two more touchdowns before the half, one to Tre’Quan Smith and one to Jared Cook.
At the half, the Saints led 35-3 after Panthers kicker Joey Slye’s 23 yard field goal.
In the third quarter Drew Brees throws a short pass to Taysom Hill. Hill takes it 45 yards to the endzone for the touchdown to put it 42-3, Saints.
Carolina running back Christian McCaffrey had a late 3rd quarter 1 yard touchdown.
Saints go on to win it 42-10.
Brees completed 19 of his 30 passes for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Saints defense held the Panthers to just 41 yards rushing, allowing just one touchdown in the game.
Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan and Mario Edwards each recorded a sack in the game.
The Saints close out the regular season 13-3 and broke the single season NFL record for fewest turnovers with 8.
The Saints remain the 3 seed heading into the playoffs and will host the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, kickoff set for 12:05.
