METAIRIE, La. – Week 15 looks very different for both the Saints and Falcons than it did back in Week 1 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen and his staff will stick with Andy Dalton as quarterback. Sunday marks his 11th start for New Orleans.
Falcons Head Coach Arthur Smith named rookie Desmond Ridder QB1.
Unlike Dalton, this will be Ridder’s first ever NFL game. Aside from the preseason.
Former Falcons starting quarterback Marcus Mariota was placed on injured reserve due to a chronic knee injury. Mariota is set to have surgery on his knee next week.
But the Saints won’t escape a mobile quarterback as Ridder presents a similar game to Mariota.
“He’s a smart player. He can make something out of nothing,” said New Orleans Saints Linebacker Pete Werner.
“He’s going to be looking to scramble. We just have to be sharp with our coverage. We don’t have a good feel for him. I don’t think there’s necessarily an advantage [with this being his first game]. At the end of the day its going to come down to how we do our job,” said Werner.
Allen is very familiar with the former Cincinnati star.
The Saints scouted Ridder in the 2022 draft. What stood out to Allen the most about the Bearcat was his accuracy when he’s on the move.
Expect a lot of scrambling from Ridder come Sunday at the Caesar’s Superdome.
