BATON ROUGE – A big day for LSU Football, as the Tigers pick up another in-state verbal commitment from 5-star wide receiver Shelton Sampson out of Catholic High.

Sampson is the No. 3 overall player in the state of Louisiana and he’s ranked as the 4th best wide receiver in the country, according to 247 Sports Composite.

The senior wide out picked LSU over Alabama, Arizona State and Florida State. However, the Seminoles made a big push for the speedy pass catcher with the help of Gabe Fertitta, who was his former head coach at Catholic High school. Coach Fertitta is now an analyst with FSU.

When asked why he chose LSU, it was simple.

“I’m from Baton Rouge, so the question was really, why not like, why not go to LSU?”, said Sampson.

LSU made a statement with the help of social media, using the #SheltonStays and it worked.
