BATON ROUGE – Denham Springs Football is coming off their best season under third year Head Coach Brett Beard. In 2022, with their biggest senior class, the Yellow Jackets are looking to build off last year’s success. They’ll need help from their senior quarterback Reese Mooney.

The 3-star quarterback has dealt with a ton of adversity throughout his high school football career. As a sophomore, he lost a teammate before the season kicked off. In that same year, he split time with a senior. Then as a junior, in his first year as a full-time starter, he suffered a season ending ankle injury. Now in his final season in the purple and gold, he’s trying to leave his mark at Denham Springs.

“A lot of teams in the state have not been through what we have,” said Mooney. “We really have a chip on our shoulder. It’s our last ride, so we just got to make it count.”

Mooney was originally committed to Vanderbilt, but de-committed to the Commodores back in May. The gunslinger had a change of heart and verbally committed to Hugh Freeze and Liberty University.
