BATON ROUGE – The state of Louisiana is a hotbed for high school football and over the past decade South LA has produced some of the country’s top high school quarterbacks. Zachary’s Eli Holstein is no exception.

The 4-star quarterback shocked the state this summer by committing to the University of Alabama. As a junior, Holstein committed to Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M before decommitting in March.

“In my opinion, if the head coaches isn’t recruiting the quarterback, they don’t want that quarterback,” said Holstein. “So, you know just how much hands on he (Coach Nick Saban) was with my recruitment, they really wanted me.”

His relationship with Coach Saban and some deep rooted family ties are what eventually lead him to Tuscaloosa.
