TOKYO, JAPAN (BRPROUD) – Amanda Sanchez, former LSU third baseman, is the first Olympian in program history and will represent the Mexican Softball Federation in its first Olympic games.
“I want to play for Mexico because I want to play for my family,” said Sanchez. “Both my parents were born in Mexico, so I’m first generation. When I wear Mexico across my chest it’s way bigger than me, way bigger than even our sport. It’s for the whole country and that’s really special.”
