Junior right-handed pitcher Todd Peterson announced on Instagram Wednesday that he had officially signed his deal with the Washington Nationals, ending his LSU career.
Peterson was drafted in the 7th round of the 2019 MLB Draft (Pick No. 213).
Peterson made 75 appearances in a Tiger uniform, most of them in relief. He posted a 9-6 record with an ERA of 4.14, he struck out 103 batters in 130.1 innings in his career.
Despite success on the mound, Peterson will more than likely live on in LSU Baseball lore because of his only plate appearance for the Tigers.
In the 2018 SEC Tournament, Peterson was forced to take an at-bat in extra innings after LSU lost the ability to use a designated hitter in their game against South Carolina. In that 12th inning AB, Peterson blasted a two-run double off the left field wall to give LSU a 6-4 lead, Peterson then came out in the bottom of the 12th and closed out the game for LSU to send them to the SEC Tournament Championship
