BATON ROUGE – LSU is gearing up for the 2021 baseball season, after the strangest offseason on the bayou, but things can get weirder.
In fact, true freshman, Tre Morgan, already earned the starting job at first base over junior infielder Cade Beloso, who has been a two-year starter for the Tigers.
Competition doesn’t always bring the best out of people, but Beloso’s veteran leadership has shined during this transition.
Rather than driving a wedge between two teammates, it brought them closer together.
“When I looked at Tre the first day I saw him play at LSU, I was like wow this kid is going to be special,” said Beloso. “Just the way he picks balls, throws the ball, fields groundballs etc., I was just like wow I want to help this kid out any way possible because he’s going to make our team better in the long run.”
