“The ultimate goal is a national championship, we want to add another to the billboard… we want it to say 2019.”
That’s what sophomore outfielder Daniel Cabrera said Wednesday at practice ahead of the regular season finale vs Auburn. The Tigers have won two in a row, including its final midweek game of the year.
“Feels like everyone is hating on the midweeks but we have a better record this year than my freshman year,” says junior infielder Josh Smith. “I see all the comments but really all that matters are the team and the fans.”
A lot is up in the air vs Auburn. LSU could finish as high as fourth in the conference…or eighth. Head coach Paul Mainier certainly knows the possibilities, but he said it’s still a one game at a time approach.
LSU hosts Auburn beginning on Thursday for the final three games of the regular season.
