BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)– While the LSU Tigers prepared for the match-up against Alabama’s Crimson Tide, a number of fans showed up with extravagant tailgates for the big game.
More than 100,000 packed Tiger Stadium for the much-awaited match of rivals, it was LSU versus Alabama in Death Valley.
One fan told BRProud’s Jacquelyn Kisic, “This is the game to be at, we invited our kids, their kids, and friends, and there’s about 20 of us.”
While fans prepared for the big match-up, many spent their day tailgating around campus.
According to the Morales family, who are known for having, Tiger Bait Avenue, “This is not a Tailgate, this is a way of life. This is the way we do it every weekend.”
Many fans set up their extravagant tailgates and cook all kinds of food, including elephant gumbo.
In harmony with the Southern hospitality Louisiana is known for, some of the Tigers invited their Crimson Tide friends out to Baton Rouge.
One LSU fan, Brennan Morgan, invited his friend, John Russell, to his tailgate.
But Morgan jokingly added, “We’re not going to be very nice to each other. I’m wanting to beat up on him, that’s just me, and everyone else here is in purple and gold.”
In the end, LSU beat Bamba, 32-31, in overtime.
