(BRPROUD.com) – The University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas officially applied to join the SEC. The Big 12 powerhouses would join the Southeastern Conference in 2025, if the league approves the schools’ submissions.

SEC Commissioner Greg Sanky revealed the news in a statement and said the conference was not actively seeking new members, but the league would “pursue significant change when there is a clear consensus among our members that such actions will further enrich the experience of our student-athletes..”

As Sanky stated, three-fourths of the SEC would have to approve the Longhorns and Sooners’ move to the conference, and math concluded 11 teams would have extend invitations for membership.
