He says it’s because of his players, yet they say it’s because of him. Head coach Kerrick Jackson is leading his team to much more than just the first NCAA tournament appearance in ten years.
“He’s kind of a three-in-one… he’s our coach, he’s our dad, and he’s our friend,” says Southern junior outfielder Hampton Hudson. “All those combined make us pretty comfortable and that’s how we get it done.”
The players have bought in and you can tell as it’s a true worst-to-first scenario for Southern. In Jackson’s first year as head coach, the team had nine wins. A year later – and they’re looking to make some noise in the NCAA tournament.
