BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Though the bullpen was struggling a few weeks ago, that’s now an area of the game head coach Jay Johnson has confidence in. Players who didn’t pitch last weekend will need to pitch this weekend if they want to make it where they want to be.
Johnson said, “If we want to do the things we want to do and accomplish it, they’re going to have to pitch, whether it’s this weekend or hopefully beyond that for us to be where we want to be. And I have great confidence in those guys.”
Pitching coach Wes Johnson will be the new head coach at Georgia.
Both coaches shared news of Wes’s departure with the team on Monday morning, telling them he’d be coaching at Georgia once the season ended. They wanted to make sure the players heard it from them first.
The tigers say they’ll miss the pitching coach.
“I feel like I’m not the same pitcher I was last year, thanks to him,” said LSU pitcher Ty Floyd. “He’s helped me develop a lot as a person and a player. But of course, we’re all sad that he’s leaving, but we’re also very happy for him after the season is over.”
