BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — In a 6-3A race, #8 Parkview Baptist rallied in the final seconds to defeat #5 Madison Prep Friday in week four, 28-21.
The game was tied 7-7 in the second quarter when the Eagles quarterback Abram Johnston found Brock Comeaux for the touchdown to go up 14-7.
Madison Prep looked to even the score later in the second quarter when they fumbled in the redzone and Parkview Baptists’ Jacob Hess scooped up the loose ball and returned it into Charger territory.
Madison Prep responded two plays later with about a minute left in the half. Javen Holmes picked off Abram and went 99 yards to the house for the pick-six to knot the game at 14 at halftime.
The score remained tied at 14 until the fourth quarter when the Chargers took a 21-14 lead. Parkview Baptist would score late in the fourth quarter and get the two-point conversion to go up 22-21 with one second left in the game.
Madison Prep had one last chance at the end to win it, however, the Chargers fumbled and the Eagles capped off the game with a scoop and score.
Parkview Baptist moves to 3-1 while Madison Prep falls to 2-2.
