BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) —The Dutchtown Griffins came away with a big district win in 5-5A on Friday night, defeating the previously undefeated St. Amant Gators, 31-7.

In the first half, it was a defensive struggle, until the Griffins got the ground game going just before halftime.

Carter Hanberry punched in the game’s first score with just 1:28 remaining in the first half, making it, 7-0, Griffins.

The “TKO” package used to lead the way for the score seemed to spring open the Dutchtown rushing attack, as Guy Mistretta’s squad took the first possession of the second half for another score as well.

The win keeps Dutchtown in the race for the district crown. Their only loss was to another 5-5A team, Walker, who is undefeated in district play.

Dutchtown will finish its regular season with Denham Springs and East Ascension. St Amant, who is still alive in the district race, will finish with Walker and Live Oak.
