East Ascension defeats Live Oak for second-straight win

GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) — East Ascension rolled past Live Oak, 48-9, Friday for their second-straight win.

The Spartans started off trailing after a bad snap on a punt resulted in a safety and a 2-0 Live Oak lead.

Then, the East Ascension offense got rolling in the second quarter with a 40-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Caden Gautreaux to Jackson Chiasson to go up 7-2.

The Spartans offense found the endzone in the second quarter, this time, Gautreaux connected with Brennan Thompson from 24 yards out to go up, 14-2.

Then, the East Ascension special teams got involved when Tony Miles stripped Live Oak and took it in for a touchdown to give the Eagles the 21-2 lead.

East Ascension led 35-2 at the half before cruising to the 48-9 win.

With the win, the Spartans moves to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in District 5-5A play. Live Oak falls to 3-5 overall and 1-3 in District 5-5A play.
