ST. GABRIEL, La. – Second ranked East Iberville hosted the seventh ranked Tornadoes in the 1A quarterfinals, and the Tigers started the game with dominant showing with time of possession.
On the first drive of the game, East Iberville held the ball for nine minutes on a 17-play drive, but Haynesville’s Keegan Goodwin stalled the Tigers with a sack, preventing East Iberville from getting any points on the time-consuming drive.
Haynesville took the lead 7-0 in the second quarter following Kedrick Grider’s touchdown run, but an odd sequence occurred just before halftime.
Less than 10 seconds in the quarter, East Iberville tried to line up for a fourth & goal play but couldn’t call timeout. Instead, Haynesville used one of its timeouts, and the Tigers scored to go into the half down 7-6.
East Iberville would go on to win 25-15 to advance to the semifinals.
