High School Football

Ponchatoula, LA – The Green Wave knock St. Amant out of the playoffs with a 24-14 win at the Swamp, Friday night.

Ponchatoula has won 7 straight games after dropping their first game of the season to Brother Martin, 48-28. Now the Green Wave will host Ruston Friday night in the second round of the playoffs.

Despite sloppy weather, it was a dog fight between the Gators and the Green Wave. Both offenses struggled in the first half with only one touchdown scored by Ponchatoula.

The second half was a different story with both teams finding the endzone.

Junior quaterback Jacoby Mathews took over the game in the 4th with the game winning drive. Then capped it off with a 2 point conversion.

Fox 44’s Chessa Bouche caught up with Ponchatoula’s Head Coach Hank Tierney after his team’s win.
