BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — After spending the past 17 seasons at Central High school, Sid Edwards embarks on a new journey. He returns to the 70805 where he grew up, with a new mission, taking over the Istrouma High School football program. His Indians (3-0, 2-0) face their toughest challenge in 4A-District 6 as Plaquemine (2-1, 2-0) visits the Reservation Friday night.

In 2022, the Green Devils blasted Istrouma, 50-0, and it’s a game that the Indians have not forgotten about. Some would even say they’re looking for revenge in 2023. Both schools have new head coaches. Donald Williams took over the reins after Drey Trosclair left for Thibodaux High School. Williams has been a part of the Plaquemine coaching staff for the past six years before being elevated as the head coach.

The Green Devils stumbled out of the gate, losing to Ascension Episcopal 23-20 in week one, but bounced back with back-to-back district wins. The Indians are looking to stay perfect coming off a shutout win over Broadmoor, 40-0.
