BATON ROUGE – The “Ascension Super Bowl” goes down Friday night at Spartan Stadium with bragging rights on the line as St. Amant and East Ascension battle it out on the gridiron. It’s the 44th meeting between these two schools, which started back in 1979. EA holds the lead in the series by a very slim margin, 22-21. The Spartans have won 4 out of the last 5 games.

St. Amant (5-0) is trying to stay perfect on the season and open district play with a win against their parish rival. As for East Ascension (1-4), the Spartans have played one of the toughest schedules in the state and are coming off their first win of the season looking to build momentum in district play. There’s always a ton of hype when the Gators and Spartans clash and this year will be no different.
