BATON ROUGE — Walker (7-1, 3-0) is the top team in District 5-5A and are eyeing their third district championship in program history. After dropping their season opener to Ponchatoula, the Wildcats have won seven straight games and they’ll put their winning streak on the line Friday night.
Walker will have to get past St. Amant (7-1, 2-1) first if they want to bring home another district title.
The Gators are coming off a tough loss to Dutchtown, which is their first loss of the season. Now, the Wildcats and Gators will battle it out at ‘The Pit’ Friday night.
If the Gators win, District 5-5A could end up in a three-way tie between Dutchtown, Walker and St. Amant. If Walker wins, they’ll need to win in week 10 against Denham Springs to win the district outright.
