ST. AMANT, La (BRPROUD) — It’s not about how you start, but how you finish.

St. Amant quarterback Chase Kelley was sacked twice on the Gator’s opening drive, one resulted in a safety. #10 Opelousas took the ball and scored on a Zach Malveaux touchdown run for an 8-0 lead before the game was even 10 minutes old.

Yet the Gators pulled out a thrilling 28-22 upset win over the Tigers at The Pit on Friday night.

St. Amant turned things around in the second quarter when running back Myles Dennis punched in a six-yard touchdown run, which Kelley followed up with a successful two-point conversion pass to Kyron Craft to tie the ball game up at 8 with just over two minutes in the second quarter.

The Gators improved to 4-0 on the year. Next up for St. Amant is a home against Jefferson RISE Charter (Harvey, La).
