LIVE BLOG: Saints host Cowboys in key Sunday Night Football match up

The New Orleans Saints return to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to host the Dallas Cowboys in prime time on NBC Local 33. Follow along as Teddy Bridgewater aims for his second straight win filling in for the injured Drew Brees.


FINAL: NO 12, DAL 10

10:18pm: PJ Williams intercepts Prescott’s Hail Mary attempt as time expires and the Saints win the game to move to 3-1 on the season. Dallas will fall to 3-1.

10:16pm: Randall Cobb catches the ball and runs out to near midfield for a first down. Dak Prescott gets the players to the line and spikes the ball. Dallas will have one final play with just :02 left in the game.

10:14pm: Cooper is called for offensive pass interference with :25, Dallas facing a 2nd and 20.

10:13pm: Amari Cooper catches a pass for 14 yards and a 1st down. Call stands after an official review.

10:09pm: Dak Prescott is sacked on 1st down inside the Dallas 5-yard line. Saints defense is stepping up in a big way in the 4th quarter. 1:15 to play in the ball game.

10:08pm: Teddy Bridgewater gets sacked back at midfield on 3rd and 8, pushing the Saints out of FG range. Thomas Morestead is on to punt with 1:45 left.

10:00pm: Kamara converts. Alvin Kamara picks up a massive 1st down on 3rd and 1 as the Saints continue to work the clock and move the ball into Dallas territory.

9:55pm: Saints D comes up with a huge stop forcing a 3 and out. Dallas sends out the punting unit with 5:37 remaining in the game.

9:50pm: Bridgewater is sacked on 3rd down, Thomas Morestead punts the ball back to Dallas with 7:37 remaining in the game. Cowboys are called for holding during the kick so they’ll start deep in their own territory.

9:47pm: Bridgewater calls timeout with the play clock winding down. It’ll be 3rd and 6 at the New Orleans 43 after the stoppage. Saints looking to get a first down and continue the drive to work the clock holding on a two-point lead.

9:45pm: Huge catch and run by Michael Thomas gives New Orleans a 1st down after the officials pick up a flag for offensive pass interference.

9:38pm: Saints D holds and forces a Cowboy punt, the kick bounces into the endzone for a touchback. New Orleans will take over at their own 20-yard line with 11:26 to go in the ballgame.

9:30pm: Saints fans raining down boos as Teddy Bridgewater was hit after giving himself up on 3rd down. No penalty called, Saints settle for Wil Lutz’ fourth FG of the evening. It puts the Saints back in front 12-10.

NO 12, DAL 10


9:25pm: Saints putting together an impressive drive as the 3rd quarter comes to an end. New Orleans will have 2nd and 5 on the Dallas 11-yard line on the first play of the 4th quarter.

9:15pm: Dallas jumps back in front. An impressive drive by the Cowboys ends with a 1-yard touchdown run by Ezekiel Elliott. Only a PAT separates the two teams with 7:47 left in the 3rd quarter.

DAL 10, NO 9

9:00pm: Saints go 3 and out to start the 2nd half. Thomas Morstead boots a 50-yard punt to back up the Cowboys. Dallas’ first 2nd half possession will start at their own 16-yard line.


8:42pm: Bridgewater’s pass is incomplete on a fade pass that only take :02, Lutz is on to kick his third FG of the night, it’s good from 19 yards out. Saints take a 9-3 lead heading into the locker room for halftime.

NO 9, DAL 3

8:41pm: Confusion by the Saints runs the clock down to just :04, but Alvin Kamara catches a screen pass and takes it down to the one-yard line. Saints take their final timeout.

8:35pm: Dallas converts on 4th and one, but the ball came loose and is recovered by the Saints. Replay shows it was a bang-bang play, currently under review.

UPDATE: Call on the field stands! Saints ball at the Dallas 45-yard line.

8:29pm: Two-minute warning in New Orleans. Dallas will have a 2nd and 17 from their own 27 after the break. Saints have all three timeouts if they can force a Dallas punt.

8:22pm: More penalty issues cause the Saints’ drive to stall. Josh Hill makes a catch well short of the 1st down line on 3rd and long. Thomas Morstead punts the ball away, Dallas will take over at their own 22.

8:15pm: FUMBLE! Vonn Bell recovers the ball after Jason Witten is stripped on a pass across the middle. The Saints will start the drive at the Cowboys’ 47-yard line.

8:09pm: Teddy Bridgewater is sacked on 3rd and 8, Wil Lutz comes on and hits his second field goal of the night, this time from 42 yards. Saints take the lead for the first time tonight.

NO 6, DAL 3

8:00pm: Saints force a 3-and-out after the Lutz field goal, Marshon Lattimore batted down a Dak Prescott pass on 3rd down to end the drive. Great stand by New Orleans to swing the momentum in their favor, and Deonte Harris returns the punt 23 yards all the way out to midfield where the Saints will take over.

7:57pm: IT’S GOOD! Wil Lutz nails a 40-yard field goal to level the score after the Saints drive stalled deep in Cowboy territory.

NO 3, DAL 3


7:53pm: End of the first quarter. A block in the back and a holding penalty stalls the Saints drive. Will Lutz will attempt to tie the game with a field goal try to start the second quarter.

7:42pm: Saints stand strong! The Cowboys take the lead after a Brett Maher FG, but the New Orleans Defense clamped down in the red zone after the turnover to prevent a Dallas TD.

DAL 3, NO 0

7:35pm: Bridgewater’s 3rd Down pass to Ted Ginn, Jr. is bobbled up into the air after he’s hit and is intercepted by Chidobe Awuzie. Ends a promising drive for New Orleans as Dallas takes over near midfield.

7:26pm: PJ Williams knocks down Ezekiel Elliot well short of the first down line on 3rd down near midfield. Saints will get the ball for the first time after the Dallas punt.

7:22pm: KICKOFF. The Saints win the toss and defer to the second half… The opening kick goes for a touchback.
