BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An LSU gymnast made her debut at the world championships, where she booked her ticket to the Paris Olympics in 2024.

According to LSU, Filipina gymnast Aleah Finnegan earned an all-around score of 51.366 at the 2023 Artistic Gymnastics World Championship on Monday in Antwerp. Finnegan became the first active gymnast in LSU history to become an Olympian and the first female from the Philippines to do so.

Finnegan’s score placed her fifth on non-qualifying teams to secure her spot in Paris. Finnegan can also serve as a second alternative for the women’s individual all-around final on Friday, Oct. 6.

“It was such an honor to compete for the Philippines on the world stage. To be able to represent my family and just knowing that I did everything I could out there was really special,” said Finnegan. “I’m grateful for Tiger Nation and the LSU community for cheering me on from home. TGBG. Let’s Geaux to Paris!”
