BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — LSU safety Greg Brooks Jr. got a visit from football head coach Brian Kelly and some players Sunday as he recovers from surgery.
Brooks had an emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor Friday, Sept. 15. His family issued a statement asking for prayers for his fast recovery.
“He’s able to respond to commands, you know, it’s a been a long road for him. His family has been amazing, they’re there every day. The support he’s been receiving from the community, it’s been overwhelming,” said Kelly.
During the Sunday visit, Kelly said Brooks gave a thumbs up.
“I know the family can’t thank everybody enough for the great support,” said Kelly. “This is, you know, this is a long battle and he continues to fight every day.”
