BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Two LSU Lady Tigers have been nominated for the BET Sportswoman of the Year award.

According to LSU, former guard Alexis Morris and current LSU forward Angel Reese have both been nominated for BET Sportswoman of the Year.

The BET Awards is recognized as the ultimate platform to showcase Black excellence, to honor the present and future of Black music, creativity, and sportsmanship, according to BET.

This achievement comes after the Lady Tigers won the NCAA basketball tournament against the Iowa Hawkeyes, 102-85. Both Morris and Reese were contributors to winning the team’s first national championship.

Reese was announced to represent the United States in the 2023 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. Morris was drafted to the Connecticut Sun in the 2023 WNBA draft before being waived.

The BET Awards are scheduled to air on BET at 7 p.m. CT on Sunday, June 25.
