METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) — Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael was put on the hot seat in the media following last Sunday’s loss to the Buccaneers. Saints head coach Dennis Allen said Carmichael knows he’s the target of criticism for the Saints offensive failures.
Saints quarterback Derek Carr said he isn’t paying attention to the outside noise when it comes to Carmichael saying Wednesday he still has confidence in him as a play caller.
“We have great confidence, you know, from players, I can only speak for players. You know, from a player standpoint, we love Pete. We know what he brings. We know how smart he is. We see when we turn the film on, no, no, that’s on me, you know, or that’s on you or you like talking player-wise.
“We got to do that better for you, Pete. I think once, once we play better and we execute better, hopefully, you know, there won’t be a target on his back because he’s given his whole life to this city and this organization for a long time. And he’s still the same amazing coach that he’s been the whole time.”
As of now, Allen said he won’t make coaching changes when they’re just four games into the season.
