Tailgating and trash talking another team often go hand-in-hand, but for one group of Crimson Tide fans, it led to a genuine friendship.

Eddy Tucker of Demopolis, Alabama told CBS 42 he’s been part of the TNT Crew tailgating group for 15 years and they’ve been tailgating from the same spot in Tuscaloosa for the past nine years. During a past Alabama game against Louisiana State University, he met a group of LSU fans and the rest is history.

“We were cooking Jambalaya, they had to joke about the rednecks cooking Jambalaya,” Tucker said.

Tucker said he got to know the group, which was affected by the 2016 flood in Louisiana’s Denham Springs area.

“We’ve helped them with the flood, got to know them and their families, just got really, really close to them just because of tailgating,” Tucker said.

Tucker said people call the TNT Crew frequently asking if they can join the tailgate, but Tucker said there is no reason to call ahead and anyone is welcome.

The Alabama Crimson Tide will face off against the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
