BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Southern Jaguars are heading to Jacksonville, Florida to take on the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Saturday, Oct. 21.
Southern is now 3-3 after a 45-18 win over the Lincoln University CA Oaklanders. The Jaguars are led by quarterback Harold Blood who has thrown for 1,370 yards and nine touchdowns. These two teams have played five times over the years with the Jaguars coming out victorious each time.
Head coach Eric Dooley along with some members of the Southern football team spoke with the media at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Dooley started by speaking about the win over Lincoln University. He said the team had a “great first quarter” and pulled out the win.
The Southern head coach was asked about safeties coach Sean Wallace who was recently diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. Dooley said, “he’s a fighter, we a fighter, we gonna fight this fight together.”
Southern has won three of its last four games, Dooley said that “when you start playing for one another, you get better.”
