BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Southern University head football coach Eric Dooley will be recapping the win against University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff and previewing Saturday’s game.
The Jaguars won, 27-0, in the game against the Golden Lions.
Quarterback Harold Blood was 19-for-21 for 246 yards and two touchdown passes.
Ckelby Givens was named defensive player of the week by the Southwestern Athletic Conference Monday. SU Athletics said Givens registered nine total tackles, including four tackles for a loss of 10 yards and two quarterback hurries.
Dooley called it a good victory for the team but is eager to look forward to the next game against Florida A&M. He said it’ll be a good matchup, adding, “You’re talking about two teams that are almost identical when you take a look at some things taking place this year but I feel real good about our defense.”
He described both teams’ defense as fast and physical.
This weekend’s game against Florida A&M is a home game.
