BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Southern University Jaguars return to A.W. Mumford Stadium to face off against conference rival, the Texas Southern Tigers on Saturday, Oct. 28.

The Jaguars are now 4-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play after beating the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats, 28-18. The Jaguars have played the Wildcats for a total of six times since 1981 and have won every game.

Head coach Eric Dooley and some members of the Southern University football team spoke with the media at noon Tuesday, Oct. 24.

To recap last week’s game against Bethune-Cookman, coach Dooley said the Wildcats were ready to play against the Jaguars.

Moving forward to the upcoming game against the Texas Southern Tigers, Dooley believes the Tigers will be prepared.

“I have faced coach McKinney now for five years, so I know the team is going to be prepared to play,” said Dooley. “I’m not looking at the records, I’m just looking at the team and the individuals that they have on their team. So, we’ll be prepared and we accept the challenge vs Texas Southern.”

Dooley was asked about what he learned about his team during this season so far. Dooley said, “Nothing I need to learn, when I go into the season, I know about them and it’s some things that we’ll have to work and get better at, but I do know the one thing, that they’re going to compete at a high level.”
