NFL code of conduct requires mask wearing for entirety of game

NEW ORLEANS, La. (WDSU) — Nine fans were ejected from the New Orleans Saints game on Sunday for violating the NFL’s Code of Conduct policy.

Mike Hoss, communications coordinator for ASM Global, told WDSU the fans were warned multiple times about not wearing a mask before being removed from the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

“It has been important for the Saints and ASM to monitor this and make sure that everybody adheres to the policy because if not, if there are no consequences, kind of what’s the point?” Hoss said.

He added that this is not the first time fans have been ejected from games for violating the league’s mask mandate.

“We are doing everything possible to make it safe,” Hoss said. “And if people don’t obey the mask policy and there’s a violation, they will be escorted out.”

Hoss said one person was ejected for a mask violation on Oct. 25 when the Saints hosted the Carolina Panthers. Another three fans were removed from the stadium on Nov. 15 when the Saints played the San Francisco 49ers.

The Saints hope to host 15,000 fans in the Superdome by December. Right now, the city is only allowing 6,000 people to attend games.

“It is about obeying the policy because if you don’t, there are going to be repercussions,” Hoss said.
