BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD )- At just 13 years old, Anna Jusselin has raised thousands of dollars for the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center — and she’s not finished.

Last year, Jusselin was able to donate $5,000, bringing her grand total donated to over $25,000! This year, Jusselin is selling t-shirts, having a lemonade stand, and selling raffle tickets for a local artist to paint your home. Also, Jusselin was selected to serve on the Youth Advisory Committee representing St. Amant Middle School.

“I like to see their faces when I donate the check. It just makes me happy, it just makes me feel like I’m doing something to help, you know, change the world just a little bit,” said Jusselin.

The St. Amant Middle School Student Anna definitely has her plate full, and still, she makes the time to serve the community.

“I do horse riding, I’m Beta president, and then I’m student of the year, I am youth representative for St. Amant Middle, I’m doing Youth Lege, and I’m running for president of the senate.”

While Jusselin perfects her juggling act, she’s also been awarded Youth Philanthropist of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Raising money for the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is a cause she’s been committed to for the last 10 years.

“My mom told me the story of how her mom passed away. Her mom passed away from breast cancer and so I wanted to do something for that, and so we decided that a kid-friendly thing would be baking and going to the front of the neighborhood setting up a lemonade stand and selling stuff,” said Jusselin.

That “kid-friendly” idea turned out to be bigger than she ever imagined, now requiring all hands on deck.

“We sell shirts, we do pink cupcakes, pink rice Krispie treats, pink cotton candy and pink lemonade,” said Jusselin.

When Jusselin isn’t raising money for cancer treatment or racking up horse riding awards, this standout student who seemingly has it all figured out is probably watching a movie.

“I plan to graduate high school with my high school diploma and my associate’s degree, and I want to get a scholarship to go to Texas A&M and go to veterinarian school,” said Jusselin.
