BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Two local students have been chosen as Changemakers project leaders, according to the YMCA of the Capital Area.

Baton Rouge Magnet High Schools’ Alex Wei and Nicole Lin were chosen based on their project proposals. According to the YMCA, both will be going on an all-expense paid trip to the YMCA Youth Governors Conference where they will present their proposal. Three projects will be chosen to receive $5,000 funding.

“It is exciting to benefit from corporate philanthropy even before the doors open on the new Amazon warehouse currently under construction. We are grateful that our Y was selected by Amazon to receive a grant that supports local teen leaders and early childhood education in Baton Rouge,” said Christian Engle, president & CEO of the YMCA of the Capital Area. “Our A. C. Lewis YMCA is located about 4 miles from the Amazon site under construction, and we look forward to serving their employees through the Y’s programs and services.”
