Family seeks assistance after death of Baton Rouge mother and great-grandmother

Crista M. Sudduth leaves behind two boys, ages 14 and 12.

BATON ROUGE, La. (NBC Local 33) (FOX 44) A family dealing with the sudden and tragic loss of a mother and great-grandmother are still in shock after a domestic violence incident claimed the life of three people on June 26.

Crista M. Sudduth (mother), Ruby Lee White (great-grandmother) and Ivy Frank (the mother’s boyfriend) were killed after Sudduth’s ex-boyfriend entered White’s home off South Harrell’s Ferry Rd. and opened fire, shooting the victims multiple times.

Funeral services for the mother and great-grandmother are expected later this week, according to Katie Simpson, a friend close to the family.

Simpson created a fundraiser on Facebook to help the family deal with the unexpected cost of simultaneous funerals. A goal of $30,000 has been set.

“Any funds left over in the end will go for the two young boys left without a mother,” said Simpson in a post.

Sudduth leaves behind two boys who were at home when the crime began. The boys, ages 14 and 12, called 911 to report that their mother’s ex-boyfriend was shooting inside the home, according to Sid Geatreaux with the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office. The pair managed to escape and hid in a shed until authorities arrived.

The suspect Michael L. Wade, remains in police custody and is charged with three counts of first degree murder.
