Former SU wide receiver Devon Gales returning to UGA to finish school, six years after his injury

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A former Southern University football player who was severely injured during a game is now returning back to school.

Former Jags Wide Receiver Devon Gales suffered a paralyzing spinal injury in a game against the University of Georgia in 2015. Six years later, it’s the same school where Gales will finish his education.

In a Facebook post, his mother Tanisha Deans-Gales made the announcement saying he will start school in the fall.

“Today I am so pleased to announce that Devon Gales has been accepted into the University of Georgia!!!! He will start classes in the fall!!!! Congratulations to Devon and all of his accomplishments! God has a plan for you son!!!!”
