Man found dead on N. 18th Street identified


Baton Rouge Police Detectives have identified the victim as 50 year old Tony Williams. Williams was found today around 10:00 am at 125 N. 18th Street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He died at the scene.


BATON ROUGE, LA (WVLA/WGMB)- BRPD Chief Murphy Paul and District Attorney Hillar Moore addressed the public this afternoon after a call came in this morning from a concerned citizen who reported a person down at a location near North 18th Street and North Blvd.

Officers arrived to find an unidentified black male dead at the scene. the location of this mornings homicide is just two blocks from where a double homicide occurred on Friday. December 13th.

In that case a white male and female were found with gunshot wounds to the head.

After a close look at evidence and details related to both murders, local officials have reason to believe that both incidents are connected.

Officials say they have not been able to positively connect the two together but as soon as they can additional information will be made public. both investigations are active and no other information wil be released until it is necessary.

Several local law enforcement agencies have been brought in to use their expertise in assisting with both of these cases.

There is one message that Chief Paul wants to reiterate to our homeless community and that is “There is danger in sleeping outside.”
