“I don’t even want to finish reading this, I read enough.”

Friday evening, Veda Washington, the aunt of Alton Sterling reacted to the Baton Rouge Police Union’s statement.

The statement calls out Baton Rouge’s Police Chief Murphy Paul, calling his comments about Blane Salamoni an attack.

“When someone’s attack, perceived attack by the chief against prior administration, against prior chiefs, against other officers that people were turning a blind that just cannot go unanswered that was not fair, we didn’t appreciate it and we are saddened by that” said Thomas Dewey, Attorney for Baton Rouge’s Police Union.

The union’s statement says in part, “we disagree with the assertions made in the press conference pertaining to Blane Salamoni’s pre-employment process.”

“Officer Salamoni was a good officer, did well and not the characterization that the chief provided” said Dewey.

Chief Paul apologized to the Sterling family and the Baton Rouge community for Salamoni’s hiring, saying he should have never been on the force.

Sterling’s aunt says, the union’s stance doesn’t shock her.

“It doesn’t surprise me at all, it doesn’t even move me.”
