BATON ROUGE, LA (LOCAL33) (FOX44) – She’s known around town as Party Pam, but her work in the community goes far behind having a good time.
Here in Louisiana we love a good party.
“We will take any excuse and turn it into a party if you let us,” said Pam Bordelon.
If you’ve ever been to a party in the capital city, chances are you’ve seen Pam Bordelon.
“I’ve been party hopping in Baton Rouge for 26 years now.”
It isn’t a true Baton Rouge party with out ‘Party Pam’.
“My party calendar stays packed. It’s not unusual in the crazy times, during the busy, busy season to go to 15 events in a week. I recently went to 5 in one night. I haven’t done that in a long time, but I’m glad to know I can still do it.”
Bordelon moved to Baton Rouge 40 years ago and never looked back.
“It’s been a wild ride. It’s been a very wild ride.”
Over the years she’s worked with numerous media outlets including InRegister, WBRZ, WAFB and WVLA just to name a few.
“I’m the mother of 3 sons, so when I was pregnant and having babies I freelanced for everybody in town. I’ve worked for almost every media outlet in this town in some capacity.”
In 2008 she became a columnist and feature writer for The Advocate.
“I started in hard news, but I’ve always loved feature writing. That was always my thing. I never realized I’d be doing what I do now. It’s kinda developed over the years and has just went pow!”
And that’s how ‘Pam’s Party Line’ began.
“My record is 8 events in one day. I started at 9:00 in the morning and went to 9:00- at night, and it was non-stop until you drop.”
Bordelon attends events around town and writes about her experiences in the paper.
“I was a star dancer for Big Buddy. I did Sing and Swing for Opera Louisiane last year. I’ve flipped pancakes for the Kiwanis Club. I’ve waited tables for the celebrity waiters event for the Children’s Advocacy Center.”
Each article highlights our great community.
“I can shine a spotlight on these organizations and make their events sound so much fun that the people say OK, I didn’t go to this time, but I’m going to go next year. They see what all this group does so I’m going to support them financially. That’s kinda my motivation. The people are the job, they really are and that’s what makes it special.”
Bordelon has been given a number of awards over the years including Women in Media’s 2011 Wanda Horn Lifetime Achievement Award, The Krewe of Apollo’s 2011 Friend of the Krewe Award and Evergreen Life Services Magnetic Woman in 2013.
It’s a party she hopes never ends.
