Today and Tonight: Cold rain early this morning. Rain chances should be much lower this afternoon. Afternoon highs only in the low and mid 40s for the Baton Rouge metro. A little warmer closer to the coast. Some areas may not even hit 40 today. Overnight temperatures in the 30s and 40s with passing showers.
Saturday: Cold morning showers. The second half of the day should be mostly dry. Rain chance is 30-40%. Otherwise, mostly cloudy and chilly with highs in the 40s. Overnight temperatures dropping into the mid 30s. A few spots may drop near/at freezing. A light freeze will be possible for some – protect people, pets, and plants.
Sunday/Valentine’s Day: Some areas north of Baton Rouge, mainly near the state line, may see a light mix of rain, sleet, and freezing rain early Sunday morning. Little to no impacts expected for now. Mostly cloudy skies with a 30% chance for rain. Highs will be in the 40s. Some may only be in the 30s. Overnight temperatures will drop into the low and mid 30s. Prepare for a light freeze overnight.

Monday: A Gulf low could bring more precipitation on Monday and Monday night. We may have a mix of rain, sleet, and freezing rain. This could lead to ice issues Monday through Tuesday morning. Temperatures will quickly drop on Monday into the 20s and 30s by the afternoon. Make sure your home is winterized and know what you will do for you, your family, and pets just in case we have ice issues. Hard Freeze likely Monday night – Tuesday morning as temperatures drop into the lower 20s. Protect people, pets, plants, and pipes.
Tuesday: Hard Freeze likely in the teens and 20s Tuesday morning. There may be icy areas, too. Mardi Gras will be cold and mostly dry. Highs will only be in the 30s and 40s.
Wednesday & Thursday: Temperatures will briefly moderate into the 50s before yet another system moves in Thursday. We will have to monitor for some more ice issues.
