StormTracker Forecast…Rejoice! We are expecting nothing but sunshine today! It will be chilly, so be sure to dress in layers to stay warm! Afternoon temperatures will warm into the low and mid 50s. If you’re going to spend your Friday evening at the Southdowns parade or at the Box, you will want to dress in layers and keep the blankets nearby. Evening temperatures will be in the 40s before we fall into the upper 20s and lower 30s overnight.
Tonight: A FREEZE WARNING is in effect from midnight through 7 AM on Saturday morning. Temperatures will drop at or below-freezing for several hours. Plants and crops will be in danger of dying. Be sure to bring the plants indoors and cover the large plants outdoors with a sheet. Make sure your pets are indoors. If they cannot absolutely be indoors, provide a warm, dry shelter at least several inches from the ground.
Saturday: A frosty start to the day, but with sunny skies in store for us, temperatures will moderate into the upper 50s. Dry for Spanish Town! Overnight temperatures will fall into the upper 30s to lower 40s.
Sunday: Warmer with a bit more cloud cover. Afternoon temperatures will warm into the mid and upper 60s. A few showers may creep into the area Sunday night, but if you’re heading to either the parade in Plaquemine or Port Allen, expect to stay mainly dry.
Lundi Gras: A system is expected to move into the region. Timing and intensity are still not set in stone, but as of now, it appears that the best chance for rain will come into play on Monday through Monday evening. Bring rain gear to parades! Currently, the rain chance is near 60% and highs will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
Mardi Gras: A few showers may be around in the morning. Rain chance is around 20-30%. Otherwise, drying out and it will be a touch cooler. Highs will top out in the mid and upper 60s.
Ash Wednesday: A dry front will pass through and knock temperatures down again. High near 59. Overnight temperature near 35. Thursday’s temperature will be around 55.
