Lt. Gov. Nungesser on Plaquemines Parish flooding

Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, former president of Plaquemines Parish, commented on the amount of flooding the parish is already experiencing.

He says crews are working to evacuate livestock before fields become inundated with water.

Portions of the levee from Jefferson to Myrtle Grove have overtopped in about 20 places. A video taken by Nungesser himself shows water gushing over the barrier near Myrtle Grove.

Nungesser warns that there is a possibility of the highway becoming flooded. The parish is under mandatory evacuation, though Nungesser says some have chosen to stay behind.
