Today: A strong ridge of high pressure is set up across our region leading to a continuation of the strong heat. A HEAT ADVISORY has been issued for most of our parishes and counties today from 9AM to 7PM with heat indices expected to reach up to 110 degrees, maybe even 112 degrees in a few spots. Heat illnesses will be possible with this kind of heat and high humidity. The actual temperature today could reach 95 today in Baton Rouge. Isolated storms will be possible in the afternoon due to strong daytime heating and available moisture. Despite a small chance of storms, the forecast will remain mostly sunny and dry today.
Tuesday: The hot pattern holds on Tuesday with conditions almost identical to Monday. The only difference is there is a better chance for isolated storms to occur on Tuesday compared to Monday thanks to a weakening high-pressure system.
Wednesday-Friday: Scattered rain chances are forecasted for the middle and latter part of your week thanks to us losing the influence from high pressure. Temperatures will also be lower with highs in the low-90s to upper-80s and partly cloudy skies.
Weekend: Wet weather with average temperatures look to continue into the weekend.
Tracking the Tropics: Eyes are on the Western Caribbean where there is a low chance of development of a system in the next 5 days. This disturbance is then expected to move into the Gulf where development looks favorable. We’ll have to monitor this one closely.
