StormTracker Team forecast (Updated)…We are kicking off the work-week on a warm and sticky note, but we have major changes ahead all thanks to a cold front. Widespread showers and scattered to numerous storms are continuing to move in from our southwest, west, northwest this morning.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed our area under a Slight Risk (threat level 2 out of 5 ) and Marginal Risk (threat level 1 out of 5) for severe weather, which means strong to severe storms are possible.
What to Expect: Line of showers and storms will move through the area and will likely produce heavy rain and gusty wind, but they will also have the potential to produce damaging straight line winds and brief tornadoes. Rainfall totals should be around 0.50″ to 1.00″ with some locally higher amounts.
When to Expect It: Window of opportunity for strong to severe storms will continue through at least the late afternoon or early evening hours.
How to Prepare: Go about your day, but stay weather aware, which means to frequently check-in with the StormTracker Team via social media, on-air, and on the BRProud app. Be sure to keep your eyes to the sky and if you hear thunder, be sure to head indoors. Also, be sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings and watches! Have your safe place ready to go for you, your family, and pets, should any severe storm develop.
After this system passes through later this evening, a much cooler and drier air mass will settle in. Another system is expected to move through as we wrap up the work-week. The timing and intensity are both unclear at this time. As of now, this weekend looks to be beautiful and cool! Stay tuned!
