As of Friday evening, Fred was moving over Cuba, so it has not strengthened. It will enter the southeastern Gulf of Mexico on Saturday. Models hint that it will eventually turn to the northwest then north-northwest toward the north-central Gulf Coast as a tropical storm. The current forecast cone includes the Mississippi Gulf Coast to the eastern Florida panhandle, but keep in mind, this could certainly change. As of now, Louisiana is not included in the cone.

No imminent threats to Louisiana, but we still have time to watch and prepare.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Seven developed in the open Atlantic. It is expected to track toward the Caribbean this weekend and will likely become Tropical Storm Grace.
