Thunderstorms likely Saturday with an isolated severe potential

Overview

Scattered showers and storms are working their way through Southeast Louisiana this afternoon with some being on the stronger side. The flood threat has been increasing storms back build and dump heavy rainfall. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts and have a backup plan if you will be outdoors at any point on Saturday. Otherwise, it’s going to be mostly cloudy, hot and, swampy with high temperatures in the 80s.

Potential Impacts and Timing

Storms may produce strong winds, frequent lightning, downpours, and some hail. Storms will be slow-movers, which means localized flash flooding will be a concern. Estimated rain totals look to be around 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts likely for the areas that get caught under the storms.

After the Storms

A summer-like weather pattern is expected Sunday and into next week – daily pop-up thunderstorms, highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s with high humidity.
