StormTracker Morning Forecast…
Today: A frontal boundary is draped across South Louisiana. North of the boundary, we are seeing slightly drier air. South of the boundary…not so much. We could see an isolated storm in the Baton Rouge metro, but the best chance for rain will stay south of I-10 and toward the coast. Highs in the low and mid 90s once again. Heat indices will be in the mid and upper 90s. Enjoy the lower humidity while it’s here!
Tonight: Mainly clear and quiet with temperatures in the lower 70s for most.
Friday: The front will lift back to the north as a warm front and high pressure will build in the Gulf of Mexico, which means moisture will gradually return to the area. Rain chance is near 20%. Feels like temperatures will be in the upper 90s to around 100. High near 94.
Weekend: Rain chances are around 20-30% on Saturday and then 30-40% on Sunday. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy otherwise. Highs in the low and mid 90s. Feels like temperatures will be in the 100s.
Next Week: Typical August weather pattern – sun, clouds, hot, humid, with daily pop up thunderstorms. For now, rain chances are around 40% on Monday and Tuesday and then 50-60% on Wednesday.
Tracking the Tropics: There is an area of disturbed weather near Bermuda that has a low chance for formation. No tropical activity in the Gulf for now. We are watching tropical waves emerging off of the African coast, but none of them look too robust as of right now.
