Tracking the Tropics: Monitoring four areas in the Atlantic Basin

Weather

Four tropical waves in the Atlantic have our attention as we wrap up August – we still have ways to go in hurricane season!

One wave (Invest 99L) has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression or tropical storm in the eastern Caribbean. Models have it moving into Central America or Mexico thanks to building high pressure over the Gulf, but time will tell.

There is a tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic that has our eye, but it has a low chance for formation, for now. Another wave is expected to emerge off the coast of Africa in the coming days. Once it moves over the eastern Atlantic, it will have a chance for formation, but there is plenty of time to watch.

Finally, there is a disturbance (Invest 90L) off the East Coast, which has a high chance for formation. Models have it staying out to sea, or possibly curving around.

Next names on the list are Nana, Omar, Paulette, Rene.
